Our Story
It Started With One Guy and a Vision
In 1992, Gary Chagnon — an architectural designer by training — started Chagnon Building & Remodeling with a straightforward goal: build energy-efficient homes that people actually love living in. No cutting corners, no rush jobs, just solid work.
Throughout the '90s and 2000s, CBR built a reputation in Western MA for custom homes that were as well-built as they were well-designed. As demand grew, Gary expanded into remodeling — kitchens, baths, additions — applying the same level of care to existing homes.
In 2012, Gary's son Patrick joined the company as a carpenter's apprentice. He worked his way up from framing walls to running entire job sites, earning every bit of responsibility along the way.

Gary Chagnon
President & Lead Designer
With a background in architectural and civil design dating back to 1990, Gary is the creative force behind every CBR project. He handles initial concepts, detailed design, material selection, and ensures every plan is buildable, efficient, and exactly what the homeowner envisioned. A certified Energy Crafted Home Builder, Vectorworks Designer, and 20/20 Kitchen Designer.
Patrick Chagnon
Lead Estimator & Director of Construction Operations
Patrick oversees day-to-day construction operations and manages estimating. Starting as a carpenter's apprentice in 2012, he earned his way to the top through hard work, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for the trade. He's the person making sure your project runs on schedule and to standard.
